A smiling Wendel Clark signed pucks at the grand opening of his namesake restaurant on July 7.
Wendel Clark’s Classic Bar and Grill, the new restaurant to occupy Hamilton’s historic Lister Block on the corner of James and King William, welcomed guests to get a sneak peak of the food and restaurant interior, and see former Toronto Maple Leafs captain and part-owner cut the ribbon.
The restaurant was granted a 10 year lease in April by the City of Hamilton after being briefly occupied by a more formal steakhouse.
The restored Lister Block dates back to 1923. This second try at a restaurant space is an important step for the city. The Lister Building has over 500 workers and is located across from Jackson Square and the new McMaster University building on the booming James Street North.
The sports bar was franchised by Louis and Karen Muscat from St. George, Ontario. It will be the third restaurant location after Burlington and Vaughan.
The restaurant features many viewing screens to stay up to date on the latest in sports, a nice patio to enjoy a cold beer, and an extensive menu serving everything from burgers and wings to steaks and seafood.
Wendel Clark’s opens to the public on Thursday at 28 James Street North.
